Sometimes when we travel we discover the unexpected….I knew December would be a great time to visit NYC and I was enchanted with the experience!
My hubby and I set out in mid December on our adventure with excitement and anticipation! We were not disappointed! We arrived in NYC with all of its glittering lights and over the top decorations….they were breathtaking. Our first night in the city we took a walk to Rockefeller Center to see “The Tree”, the ice skaters, the bigger than life toy soldiers and of course the amazing light show at Saks Fifth Avenue.
The following day we spent walking from Midtown to Battery Park, taking in the sights and stopping for lunch in Little Italy. I love the beat of the city, the crowds, the smells, the sounds and the hustle and bustle. Being there at Christmastime just added another dimension to the experience.
That evening we visited the Bryant Park Christmas Market, swung by the NYC Library and strolled past St.Patrick’s Cathedral….a perfect day!
We woke early on our third day and headed to Radio City Music Hall to get our matinee tickets for “The Christmas Spectacular”. The lines were long and it was quite chilly but we persevered and were rewarded with excellent seats. From the minute we entered the theater until the moment we exited we were mesmerized. The show was truly an experience that I would recommend to everyone. From the dancing of the Radio City Rockettes , the appearance of Santa Claus, the music, the singing, the costumes and finally ending with the Christmas Story depicting the manger scene with live animals….it was magnificent! As my husband and I walked back to our hotel we just could not quit talking about the afternoon we had just experienced!
Our last day in NYC was spent attending church at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, strolling through Grand Central Station, taking in the iconic windows at Macy’s Department store, doing a little shopping, walking through Central Park and ending the day with a light dinner in a lovely holiday setting.
If you have not been to NYC in December it needs to be on your bucket list….until next time ….wishing you fun travels!
